Cheryl discovered photography at the age of 20. She graduated with
a Diploma in Mass Communication, majoring in TV Production &
Journalism, Radio Production, Photojournalism and Acting & Directing.
Cheryl found a connection with photojournalism under the tutelage
of her mentor, Mr. Wayne Umehara, an American-Japanese photographer
whose exquisite documentary work has captured the attention of many.
He taught her to "shoot with her heart and feel for the photograph".
For all his encouragement and criticism of her work, she has always
looked up to him and gave him her utmost respect.
Cheryl's fortes - photography and writing - complement each other
perfectly. She has done work for lifestyle, photography, golf, environmental
and travel magazines. Her editorial portfolio includes publications
like Homes, World Environment, Fins, Golf Vacation, Grain, Education,
Lightbox and FIRST movie magazine. Major clients include Opel, Singapore
Management University (SMU), the National University of Singapore
(NUS) and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE). From September
2006 to mid-2007, Cheryl has also represented Canon Singapore as
a speaker for a series of children photography talks in conjunction
with Motherhood Magazine.
Being an adventurous soul, Cheryl has travelled to West Malaysia,
Sarawak, Sabah, Thailand, England, Scotland, Indonesia, Japan and
India. She currently specializes in documentary, travel and environmental
photography.
Fervent about nature conservation and fascinated by the sea, Cheryl
is also a PADI OW Instructor, Enriched Air Nitrox and EFR Instructor.
Cheryl also continues to explore the unlimited possibilities of

Through her love for the environment, an undying passion for photography
and by penning words that evoke from the heart, Cheryl displays
