If the Earth wasn’t round, it wouldn’t be endless. To cover the Earth’s distance within a lifetime is often a dream: to tread many sidewalks and roads; to touch the sand of many beaches; to breathe in the air from another corner of the world; to meet inhabitants of diverse cultures. As long as my eyes stay open, I will capture the world as I see through my camera lens– reflective, heartfelt and hopefully inspiring for all who appreciate.

Gawai Antu 2005 - SARAWAK
(East Malaysia)

Unconditional giving.
Laughter ringing.
A festival for departed souls.
Chants ringing through the halls.
Pheasant feathers, cursed wine.
If you're a warrior, drink up and you'll be fine.

New Delhi, Kullu & Manali (Himalayas)
- INDIA

- Emotional - the word to sum up my incredible journey through India's colours and cultures, while witnessing the poverty and tenacity of people among the breathtaking rivers and mountain ranges. India has so much to offer; it is a glass over-flowing with water carrying the spirit of India and the blood of its people. It is a world of dreams to be fulfilled and the simplest of all happiness.

Bhumibol Dam - Tak Province, THAILAND

Dust. Harsh sunlight. Fatigue. These factors were not enough to stop the athletes from pressing on fiercely in the 2005 Bhumibol Dam Mountain Bike Race. Being the largest dam in the country, Bhumibol Dam boasts of lush greenery and a huge freshwater lake. It's certainly the largest dam I've seen so far!

Kota Kinabalu, SABAH (East Malaysia)

I was on assignment again. This time, it was Sabah, the hidden treasure of South East Asia. I stayed in Kota Kinabalu, a quaint town complete with good food, friendly locals and of course, the legendary Mt. Kinabalu. I'm definitely going back soon to explore the endless beauty of the island.

Nagoya, Kyoto, Tokyo, Fuji - JAPAN

Before visiting the 'Land of the Rising Sun', I've always viewed Japan as a boring cosmopolitan place. However, actually being there is a really different experience for me! I absolutely admired the rich tradition, food and sights of Japan!

I visited the World Expo in Aichi - this was a fascinating combination of people and culture from around the world - it was simply enriching.

Kyoto was the 'old' city; everything here was oozing with history. I saw my first cherry blossoms here!

Tokyo is madness! Lights, colours and people crowding the confusing streets that are lined with thousands of shops. By the way, a durian costs S$150!

Mt. Fuji took my breath away. What a sight! The ice-capped mountain looked perfect amongst the cherry trees that bloomed in abundance.

Tioman Island, East Coast of Malaysia
(Raffles Girls School)

This was one interesting trip, as I spent 5 whole days in Tioman. Everytime I go there, I find something new. Tekek forest was amazing! We discovered many different species of reptiles, and guess what? I actually saw a mousedeer native to Tioman! (Which is super rare because of it being constantly poached by ignorant people... Sad.) I'll never forget that fleeting image of the timid mousedeer as it disappeared from our sight. Last but not least, I have to say that RGS gals rock!!!

Mawai/Gunung Panti - Kota Tinggi (Malaysia)

Together with Eco Field Trips, I brought a whole bunch of CHIJ St. Joseph Convent Girls to experience what it was like roughing out in a freshwater swamp, rainforest and mangrove. Amidst the rowdiness, I felt a sense of quiet within. Simple lives bestow simple pleasures. Just look, listen, feel and the complicated will fall apart.

Tioman Island, East Coast of Malaysia
(Raffles Institution)

I tagged along as a journalist/photographer on this rainforest-to-reef school field trip with Raffles Institution. Never have I known so much about marine life, mangrove creatures and rainforest animals! This has been a really fulfilling trip where I gained not only the experience of being truly in touch with nature, but a lot of friends as well. I have a new aim in life too; I''m gonna do something for the beautiful planet I live on!

England, Scotland - Great Britain

A 13-hour flight gave me a body full of aches.
The Tube was a spider web of trains.
London was misty, rainy,
I wished it would shine.
Leicester Square's theatres and neon lights blind.
Mystical Salisbury, Stonehenge and Bath.
The Queen of England and her Crown Jewels;
dazzling, spectacular but NO PHOTOGRAPHY.
History of war in Tower of London.
Les Miserables and a standing ovation.
King’s Cross station and Harry Potter?
Another train heading for Edinburgh.
Scottish bagpipes and checkered skirts,
Edinburgh Castle is haunted I heard.
Flying back home was a tedious task,
I wished I didn’t have to leave so fast.

Kuching - SARAWAK (East Malaysia)

I have three art pieces on my body that’ll walk me through a lifetime. They reflect my character and my perspectives in life. After I did my first one in Singapore, I found myself packing my bags and heading for the 1st International Borneo Tattoo Convention held at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Kuching. As I sat in a longhouse looking at artists create beautiful works of body art, it fascinated me so much I had to add another two masterpieces to my collection. Like the tattoos they created, the artists who came from all over the world were intense, carefree and multi-faceted.

Bangkok -THAILAND

The country’s humble people, their friendliness and hospitality were things that made a stranger like me feel comfortable in a foreign land. This was a place filled with rich colour, culture and history. The exotic local delicacies impressed yet frightened me: deep fried maggots, roaches and crickets filled the tiny food stalls speckled around the street. Buying things in Thailand was like going on a sponsored shopping spree; the latest fashion was bargaining, and everyone had a taste of it. Sightseeing in Thailand was a pleasant encounter; I witnessed the glory of intricately crafted Buddhist temples and statues as their golden outlines glimmered magnificently in the sunset.

Chiang Mai - THAILAND

Day. A Black Widow spider. A trail of wild mushrooms. Our tired bodies sweat as our weary feet trudged along the narrow paths cutting across the mountains. The serenity of life detached from the outside world gave us an unspoken peace within.

Night. It was like being in a snow globe, as the stars filled the dusky night sky and the silhouettes of mountains stood glowing in the distance. I looked up and spun round and round like a child, making the stars join up to form hypnotizing patterns. I recalled the children’s wide toothy grins; their faces filled with pure joy and innocence. This vision was what I came for.
